About Jag
If you ask Jag Gundu which of the images from his extensive library are his favourite, his face lights up, the laptop cracks open and a flurry of photos appear—everyone from Singer Beyoncé to sport star Chris Evert to private intimate concerts at Massey Hall. Each photograph is distinct, profound, eye-catching and riveting. Each is different, yet they share some of the necessary ingredients for a great image—beyond lighting, composition and expression—the images hint at the person within. The spark that makes them unique or in the case of advertising photography, the products value proposition. The photos are arresting and they compel people to continue looking. This is why Jag’s body of work has appeared in magazines and newspapers around the world; why a gallery exhibit space at Toronto’s NFB Mediatheque opened after Jag‘s installation appeared; and why former Toronto mayor David Miller bought images to display in the Mayor’s Office. Since graduating from the Ontario College of Art and design (OCAD) in 1996, Jag has become one of Canada‘s leading event photographers and a go-to person for corporate images and advertising campaigns. His camera lens has captured actors, musicians, sports celebrities and personalities from all over the world.
Over his more than 20-year-career, he has had the opportunity to work with some of Canada‘s most recognized organizations, including, Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall as their official photographer, as well having photographed some of the most prestigious events and people around the world. These include Wimbledon, China Open, Champions Tennis League in India, the Royals, Nelson Mandela, as well as touring all across Europe and Israel with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. As a technician and an artist, he constantly pushes himself and his camera to find arresting and mesmerizing images. Jag is based in Toronto, Canada.
